4 Ways to Help Pets Affected by the California Fire

It’s easy to feel helpless during fires. And unfortunately, right now shelters are crammed with animals who were forced from their homes. However, here are four ways you can help pets affected by the California fire.

  1. Adopt a Pet

If you’re thinking of adopting a pet, now is the time! We pull all of our adoptable animals from local shelters. So when you adopt from Adopt & Shop, you are freeing up space to save more pet lives affected by the California fire. We have a wide range of pets, including dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. Our adoption counselors know every animal so we can find the perfect pet for your unique personality and lifestyle.

Each pet comes fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. You’ll also receive a free month of pet health insurance. Feel free to stop by our stores and speak to one of our team members about adoption, or you can browse our available animals here.

  1. Foster an Animal

Sometimes you can’t offer a pet a permanent home, but you’d still like to temporarily put a roof over their head. Fostering is the perfect short-term commitment, ranging from weeks to months, depending on your availability. We’re always looking for fosters for dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. This is another great way to help create space in shelters experiencing high traffic due to a disaster like a fire. Fill out our application form here.

  1. Volunteer at Adopt & Shop

Volunteering is a great way to help if you have a roommate with pet allergies or don’t have room in your home for another animal. Even if you just have a few hours to spare, we would love to have you help out at Adopt & Shop. Our volunteers lend a hand with a variety of duties, ranging from feeding kittens to walking dogs. You can learn more here.

  1. Make a Donation

A quick an easy way to make a difference in the life of a shelter animal is to make a donation. Come into one of our stores to make a cash donation. You can also click here to make an online one.

Shelters are also in need of supplies. Call your local shelter or rescue to ask what they need most. Frequently needed items include beds, food, litter and toys.
