Adopt & Shop is proud to bring you meowga, or cat yoga! This class is similar to our doga, or dog yoga, classes. It’s a workout that exercises your mind and body. These yoga sessions feature a skilled instructor, plenty of adoptable kitties, meow-mosas (mimosas!) and of course YOU! We hold our cat yoga classes in our doggie daycare room. This large open space gets plenty of natural sunlight, making it perfect for getting your zen on.
Cat Yoga Is For Everybody
Cat yoga is a great fitness class for people of all skill levels. It doesn’t matter how strong or flexible you are. How it works is the instructor leads the group through a series of poses called a “flow.” Each pose can be made more or less difficult depending on the skill level of each participant. Whether you’ve been practicing yoga for years, or didn’t even know it existed until yesterday, you can benefit from our classes.
What You Can Expect
Each cat yoga class will go through several poses. No need to feel self-conscious because beginners are more than welcome. A seasoned pro teaches will tailor each pose to your individual skill level. We’ll provide water, but please bring the following:
- Yoga mat
- Comfy clothes
During the class you’ll go through the flow with assistance from the instructor, in the company of several of our adorable adoptable cats. Afterward, feel free to have a mimosa. And we’ll have limited-edition meowga apparel available for purchase.
Why Take a Meowga Class?
Meowga is a wonderful way to spend more time with cats and it’s a great opportunity to work on your physical and mental health. Yoga strengthens your muscles and improves your posture and flexibility. Meowga is also a good tune-up for your brain. It helps get rid of anxiety and releases feel-good chemicals similar to a runner’s high. Many people also use yoga as a time to connect with their spirituality. After a class, many people feel better equipped to tackle whatever challenges stand in their way.
