Maybe you just started seeing someone new and are looking for the perfect date idea for you and their dog. Maybe you’ve been with the same person for some time and are looking for new date ideas because the typical night out is getting old. No matter who you are, here are our favorite pet-friendly date ideas in Los Angeles!
Beaches and Parks
Spending time outside is a wonderful way to spark some romance. It’s also a great way to spend time with your date as well as your four-legged bestie! The majority of parks are dog-friendly, provided your pooch is on-leash. There are also a few off-leash dog beaches. Try Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach for fun in the sand and romantic sunsets among the surf. If you’re the active sort, you can also take your date and pooch on a hike!
Hotel Getaways and Staycations
There is no shortage of pet-friendly hotel chains if you want to go on a romantic getaway or take a staycation. Try La Quinta Inns & Suites or Motel 6 if you’re on a budget. These places normally have similar rules: They ask that you pay an extra fee to stay the night with your pet. Also only animals that are clean, quiet and well-behaved are allowed on the premises.
If you’re the type of couple that loves to shower each other in gifts, then the mall might be the best place for all of you to go on a date. And there are plenty of pet-friendly shopping opportunities in Los Angeles, including the Grove, Third Street Promenade and Americana. Looking for a great deal on vintage finds? Try the Melrose Trading Post. They feature visiting dogs on their Instagram page!
Dinner and Drinks
Los Angeles sees no shortage of sunny days and warm weather, so you can make outdoor dinner plans pretty much all year long. Most restaurants with patios are pooch-friendly and many will even bring a bowl of water out for your pup. When searching for a restaurant, try using Yelp. It has search filters like “Outdoor Seating” and “Dogs Allowed” to help you find the perfect spot for your date night. We’re a big fan of Sage in Culver City. It features a completely vegan menu and the restaurant has a dog-friendly patio!
Catch a Movie
You may not be able to bring your cat or dog to the movie theater, but there are still pet-friendly viewing options for moviegoers. The Electric Dusk Drive-In in Los Angeles is pet-friendly and plays romantic flicks throughout the year, such as The Notebook, Casablanca and Crazy Stupid Love.
A Night In
Cats and introverts rejoice! Nights in are perfect for our feline friends who hate being outside or for people who are tired, sick or just don’t feel like being around other folks. And there’s nothing wrong with that! Los Angeles is lucky to have so many local restaurants that deliver on DoorDash, Seamless and other delivery services. You can also make dinner for yourself, of course, and your furry BFF. Make sure you stick to lean cuts of meat with no toppings, spices or sauces. And of course they can’t have chocolate. Then curl up with your loved ones and pop in a cinematic masterpiece like Lady and the Tramp or the Aristocats!
